150

Birch trees extend their bare tan limbs
To catch the last rays of warmth thrown by the winter sun.

[In case you hadn’t guessed, this poem is titled “150” because it is the 150th poem posted to this blog. I’m open to other titles for it though; Drop me a comment and make a suggestion.]

Warming Up

On frosty driveway,
A boy stands, sipping coffee,
Waiting for his day.

I’m Writing This To Say

I took your
J Crew sweater.
I let myself in with
The key I thought
I returned.

I guess you were
At Starbucks when I opened
The door

Sun shining on your favorite
Blue pen and the very gray sweater.
(Forgotten like the key?)

Forgive me.
Your sweater was
So warm and
So nearly invisible

Just the way
I wanted to feel this morning.

[For A.B. with much thanks.]
